COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF DECEMBER 28,1998 PSA#2250U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission, Division of Contracts, Attn: Linda

Sharlene McCubbin, Contract Specialist, 301-415-6565, Mary H. Mace,
Contracting Officer ((301)415-7314 The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory
Commission (NRC) proposes to modify a contract entitled "Computational
Two-Phase Flow Dynamics and Heat Transfer for Analysis of LWR
Transients" with the University of Florida, NRC-04-98-053. The initial
contract was awarded on the basis of the University of Florida's
response to an NRC Broad Agency Announcement entitled, "Broad Agency
Announcement for Thermal Hydraulic Research." The objective of this
modification is to develop methods for interface tracking in two-phase
flows which will allow the simulation of LWR transients. Professor
Samim Anghaie of the University of Florida has developed a unique two
phase interface tracking technique based upon an energy formulation.
Under the current NRC contract, he is developing this technique for
two-dimensional flow conditions and some limited three-dimensional
studies. Professor Anghaie developed the algorithm for this method and
his intimate knowledge of this technique allows him to carry out this
continuing research in an efficient and effective manner which is
advantageous to the NRC. The period of performance for this
modification is for two years. Standard Industrial classification code
8733 applies. This is a notice of intent to modify the contract only.
A solicitation document does not exist. Telephonic responses and
responses providing insufficient information for evaluation will not be
considered. See Note 22.***** Posted 12/23/98 (W-SN283072). (0357) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0001 19981228\A-0001.SOL)
