IN SUMMARY, OFFERORS SHOULD NOTE THAT PROPOSALS IN RESPONSE TO THIS SOLITICATION MUST BE DELIVERED TO THE GOVERNMENT ON OR BEFORE THE CLOSE OF BUSINESS (1600 EST) ON TUESDAY, 2 MARCH 1999. As detailed in its Program Solicitation, the Government is seeking teams to perform R&D in support of the Submarine Payloads and Sensors Program. The purpose of the Submarine Payloads and Sensors Program is to determine how payloads, related sensor technologies and the supporting platform design of U.S. submarines should be reconstituted in order to maximize their effectiveness through the 2020 timeframe, such as in the littorals and in influencing events ashore. The goal of this specific R&D is to identify an integrated set of innovative concepts -- payload, sensor and platform -- that is compatible with the submarine's defining characteristics -- stealth, endurance on station and mobility -- and that will result in major advances in the operational impact of future submarines. Other Notices to Offerors: (1) The final Program Solicitation shall be released via the Program Homepage on Wednesday, 23 December 1998. Any future announcements and updates concerning this Program Solicitation will be made through the Program Homepage.
