The United States Environmental Protection Agency, National Health and Environmental Effects Research Laboratory (NHEERL), Gulf Ecology Division (GED) is requesting 12 page research assistance pre-applications to conduct research on the effects of a reduction in enriched phosphorus levels on South Florida wetlands. GED is interested in focusing this research on the southern portion of the everglades (WCA3 & Taylor Slough). Up to $270,000 will be available to support a single year research effort, beginning in spring of 1999. A peer review panel will evaluate all pre-applications. The research applications must be received by 02/12/99. Eligible applicants include members of academic and nonprofit institutions located in the United States, as well as employees of State and local governments. Statutory authority for EPA funding of the specified research is authorized in the Clean Water Act, Section 104(b)(3). Interested applicants must be eligible to receive Federal Assistance under this statutory authority and the CFR Part 30-General Regulation for Assistance Programs, and Part 40 Research and Demonstration Grants.
