intends to procure two replacement Disconnect Switches for the Shasta
Switchyard located near Redding, CA. This is a combined
synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared IAW the format in
Subpart 12.6, as supplemented and additional information included in
this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation;
proposals/quotes are being requested and a written solicitation will
not be issued. This is a Request for Quotation due to the fact that the
estimated dollar limitation is below the Simplified Acquisition
Threshold of $100,000. The solicitation document and incorporated
provisions and clauses are those in effect though Federal Acquisition
Circular 97-07. This acquisition is 'unrestricted.'Delivery is required
on or before April 1, 1999; FOB Destination to the Redding Maintenance
Facility, 1545 Beltline Road, Redding, CA 96003. Acceptance and
Inspection of supply shall be done at the Redding Maintenance Facility.
The Disconnect Switches shall meet the following minimum requirements:
ITEM 001 -- (1 EACH) -- DOUBLE DISCONNECT, THREE-POLE, SINGLE THROW,
THREE-INSULATOR, END ROTATING STACK, VERTICAL BREAK, GROUP OPERATED,
OUTDOOR AIR DISCONNECT WITH OPERATING MECHANISM, NO GROUND SWITCH,
242-kV, 1200-AMP, 900-kV BIL. ITEM 002 -- (1 EACH) -- SINGLE
DISCONNECT, THREE-POLE, SINGLE-THROW, THREE-INSULATOR, END ROTATING
STACK, VERTICAL BREAK, GROUP OPERATED, OUTDOOR AIR DISCONNECT SWITCH
WITH OPERATING MECHANISM, NO GROUND SWITCH, 242-kV, 1200-AMP, 900-kV

Offerors are required to submit a completed copy of Represenations &
Certifications IAW FAR 52.212-3, technical specs/drawings of product
offered, and commercial warranty information with RFQ. Questions
regarding this synopsis/solicitation shall be put in writing and faxed
to Sharon Bates at (916) 985-1933. RFQs are due Tuesday, January 12,
1999 by 4:00 pm PST. RFQs may be mailed to US Dept of Energy, WAPA,
ATTN: S. Bates, 114 Parkshore Drive, Folsom, CA 95630. FAXED quotes
will be accepted, however, drawings/specs must be clear and readable.
