The Central Arizona Water Conservation District (CAWCD), Phoenix, Arizona requires competitive sealed proposals to furnish and deliver six (6) sets of replacement mechanical shaft seals for the main pumps at Mark Wilmer Pumping Plant, Lake Havasu, AZ. With the present shaft seal design, these pumps are experiencing seal leakage, corrosion and wear at higher rates than desired. The primary objective of this procurement is to obtain replacement shaft seals that will require significantly less seal water flow while providing required sealing over the life of the mechanical seal. The existing mechanical shaft seal requires a minimum of 64 GPM sealing water flow to be injected between the bottom and middle ring seals. A minimum supply pressure of 120 psig is required. Installation of the mechanical seals shall be performed by CAWCD. The Contractor shall provide the services of technical support personnel to assist as required during shop assembly, field installation and commissioning testing of the initial mechanical seal installed. The Contractor will perform a detailed mechanical and hydraulic analysis, as required, to ensure that the mechanical seal provided will meet the requirements of this specification under all operating conditions, (startup, shutdown, emergency shutdown and normal head variations).
