The following is the description in its entirety: This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commecial items prepared in accordance with the format in Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; proposals are being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued. The solicitation document and incorporated provisions and clauses are those in effect through Federal Acquisition Circular 97-01. Item #1: Fiber optic fusion splicer iaw following specs: Fiber type: singlemode, multi-mode, dispersion shifted, Erbium doped. Buffer diam. capability: 160 micron, 250 micron, 900 micron. Fiber diam capability: 80 micron, 125 micron. Capability to splice dissimilar diam. fiber. (80 micron to 125 micron). Singlemode splice loss: +/- 0.02 dB. Multimode splice loss: +/- 0.01 dB. Splice time: +/- 50 seconds. Program capabilityto make splices with intentional attenuation, from 0 to 15 dB. Program capability to make fiber tapers. Built in splice protector heater. Protective travel case included. Operating temp: 0 to 40 degrees C. Operating humidity: 0 to 95%. Weight: +/- 8 kilograms. Cleave angle alarm: programmable.
