This differs from previous acquisitions where the government furnished the M550 Escapement Assembly and the M55 Det Stab. Above average cost includes a roll-up of these government furnished components into the projectile assembly costs. Specific skills, equipment, and facilities required to manufacture subject item are as follows: Explosive experts, quality control specialists, process engineers, set-up mechanics, tool setters, explosive storage and handling equipment, metal forming/finishing equipment, component part assembly capability, phosphate coating, and packing equipment. Explosive safety standards have to be enforced and recommended distances between explosive storage buildings and manufacturing buildings have to be maintained/enforced IAW Army Reg 385-64 and DOD Standard 6055.9.
