George M. Chavis, gchavis@pica.army.mil. The U.S. Army Tank-automotive
and Armaments Command, Armament Research, Development and Engineering
Center (TACOM-ARDEC), Picatinny Arsenal, NJ, has a requirement for
Applique Reactive Armor Tiles for the M2A2/M3A2 Bradley Fighting
Vehicle System (BFVS). The Reactive Armor Tiles must be capable of
protecting the BFVS against anti-tank guided missile class threats, and
must not be vulnerable to burning or detonation from small arms fire.
The Reactive Armor Tiles must also meet BFVS weight constraints (the
armor and mounting hardware cannot add more than 5,800 lbs. to the
vehicle), and must fit the armor attachment provisions currently in
place on the BFVS. The proposed contract will be a firm fixed-price
contract for fifty-six (56) vehicle sets of Reactive Armor Tiles. A
"vehicle set" consists of twenty-six (26) M3A1 tiles, nine (9) M4A1
tiles, 55 M5A1 tiles, seven (7) M6A1 tiles and eight M7A1 tiles. The
tiles will be built to a performance specification which has been
classified as SECRET. All respondents to this Request for Proposal
(RFP) must have a minimum SECRET clearance in order to gain access to
this information. The U.S. Army TACOM-ARDEC seeks responses from all
responsible sources. The U.S. Army TACOM-ARDEC intends to issue a
sole-source award to General Dynamics Ordnance Systems, Burlington,
Vermont. For further information, please contact Mr. George M. Chavis
at (973) 724-4496 (e-mail: gchavis@pica.army.mil). See Numbered Note
