The Grand Canyon Monitoring and Research Center of the U.S. Department of the Interior issued a Fiscal Year 1999 Request for Proposals (RFP) for research and other scientific activities in the Colorado River ecosystem. Among other things the RFP solicited proposals for membership on the Scientific Advisory Board, to be comprised of independent scientists from a range of disciplines. Functions of the Board were to be annual review of monitoring and research programs, making recommendations for long term monitoring and research programs, long term review of research protocols, and providing scientific or technical advice as requested.
