COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF JANUARY 11,1999 PSA#2259U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, 26 W. Martin Luther King Dr.,
Cincinnati, OH 45268 R -- EVALUATION THE SCALING POTENTIAL OF INORGANIC SPECIES CONTAING
ALUMINUM, IRON AND PHOSPHATE POC Sandra Licis, Contracting Officer
513-487-2006 Procurement Abstract 1. The USEPA Water Supply and Water
Resources Division, National Risk Management Researh Laboratory
requires a contractor to write a Windows-Based Program for determining
potential inorganic foulants/scalants on reverse osmosis and
nanofiltration membranes treating drinking water. 2. Scope of WOrk, the
contractor will evaluate the scaling potential of inorganic species
containing aluminum, iron, and phosphate. Also, the effects of
chloramines and acid addition will be evaluated. Those species deemed
to be potential membrane foulants/scalants will then be written into a
Windows-based program for determining potential inorganic
foulants/scalants on reverse osmosis and nanofiltration membranes
treating drinking water. Other species currently know to be membrane
foulants will be included. The program will also contain membrane
design calculations including, but not limited to, flow rates, pressure
drops, pH changes, and charge balances. When completed, the contractor
will supply a final report that will detail the design, operation, and
utility of the program. 3. The potential contractor shall demonstrate
technical knowledge and experience in drinking water treatment
technologies, ability to wirte windows based programs and technical
reports. 4. The RFQ shall be issued approximately 1/14/99. This
requirement is being solicited as a full and open procurement. Posted
