Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) intends to modify its
existing Contract MDA972-97-C-0027 with Advanced Power Technologies,
Inc. (APTI) of Washington, D.C., to include Phase III of DARPA's
Waterhammer Development Program, the final phase of this Program. This
R&D Program concerns the design, development and demonstration of the
Waterhammer (Chemical Pulsed Power) approach to the neutralization of
marine mines and obstacles. Phase III, a logical continuation of
Phases I and II, will include a full test program for multishot
capabilities on a single target, and the application of multishot
capabilities to the 4x4 array development. The value of Phase III is
estimated at $2.6 million. The estimated duration of Phase III is 12
months. APTI is the only source known to the Government with the
capabilities, experiences and personnel for accomplishing this research
and development program within the Government cost and schedule
