The Defense Supply Service-Washington (DSS-W) intends to award a sole source delivery order with IBM Corporation, Bethesda, MD against GSA Schedule contract GS-35F4984H to: (1) Obtain a lease for use of the IBM Corporation's proprietary Central Processing Unit (CPU) hardware systems (2) Obtain lease for use of the IBM Corporation's proprietary Direct Access Storage Devices (DASD) and (3) Obtain a license for use of the IBM Corporation's proprietary computer software. This software is comprised of various IBM operating systems and includes all utilities and communications systems software in support of the Pentagon Automated Computer Systems (PACS). The PACS is a communication's system enabling the processing of the message traffic into and from the worldwide defense communications' systems. Software Lease/Hardware and Maintenance: Software Package 9121-311-22186, 9121-311-22167, 9121-260-21915, 9121-260-21916, DASD Units under LTOP, Hardware Maintenance on Mainframes and DASD Units and IBM Extended Facilities Product: 5648-A17, 4010, 5802, 5822 and 9001. PACS is in Ft. Ritchie, MD (Site R) and Washington, DC (Pentagon). This synopsis should not be considered either an RFQ or and RFP. Firms who can furnish the requirements stated above at prices, terms and conditions more favorable than those of the referenced GSA schedule contract are invited to submit responses. In order to be considered, responses must indicate make, model number, price and must include catalog and descriptive literature containing sufficient technical information. The Contracting Officer will make an award determination based on information received or issue a solicitation. All responses furnishing the above information will be considered. If either a solicitation is issued, or an award made an additional synopsis may not be published. If no affirmative, substantive responses are received within 45 days after the publication of this synopsis, a delivery order with IBM Corporation shall be placed against their GSA Schedule contract.
