39 -- REMANUFACTURE OF JOHN DEERE 644E MATERIAL HANDLER SOL NA DUE 021299 POC TERENCE J. McGINN, Contract Specialist, fax (703) 784-5826 The Marine Corps Systems Command (MARCORSYSCOM) is seeking information on commercial industry's capability of performing a remanufacture of the John Deere 644E Material Handler in order to extend its service life. Current requirements call for the remanufacture of 125 tractors annually with current assets totaling 549. A majority of these assets are in a state of condition known as Condition Code E. Condition Code E is defined as: Materiel which involves only limited expense or effort to restore to serviceable condition. This remanufacture must meet or exceed Original Equipment Manufacture (OEM) specifications. Remanufacture must include disassembly, repair, overhaul, parts replacement and upgrades. Tractor components such as engines and transmissions axles must be disassembled, inspected and reassembled to meet or exceed OEM specifications. Diesel engines must conform to current science and technology advancements and the most current EPA requirements. Interested vendors must have the capability of remanufacturing this equipment in Pacific Rim locations such as Japan, Okinawa and Hawaii. Additionally, interested vendors must be capable of providing, at a minimum, an 18 month unlimited warranty and must be capable of supporting this asset after remanufacture. Interested companies who possess these capabilities are requested to submit, at a minimum, a Capability Statement and commercial brochures no later than 12 February 1999.
