This procurement is being conducted under the Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP). NASA/HQ intends to purchase the items from MICROSOFT CORPORATION.THE MICROSOFT SOFTWARE PRODUCT ENVIRONMENT IS A PROPRIETARY SOFTWARE ENVIRONMENT DEVELOPED, MAINTAINED AND IMPROVED ONLY BY THE MICROSOFT CORPORATION. THERE ARE NO OTHER ALTERNATIVES TO ACQUIRING MICROSOFT PREMIER SUPPORT SERVICES BECAUSE THE MICROSOFT CORPORATION HAS NOT AUTHORIZED ANY THIRD PARTIES TO PROVIDE PREMIER SOFTWARE SUPPORT SERVICES FOR ITS PROORIETARY SOFTWARE. The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. Interested firms have until February 03, 1999 from the publication of this synopsis to submit in writing to the identified point of contact, their qualifications/capabilities. Such qualifications/ capabilities will be used solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conductthis procurement on a competitive basis.
