require services provided by a Radiation Oncologist for Brachytherapy
cases. It is estimated 48 to 60 brachytherapy cases in a one year
period beginning April 1, 1999 through March 31, 2000. The
Brachytherapy procedures will consist of, but not limited to; (1)
consultation with the patient to reconfirm suitability for
brachytherapy treatment; (2) Brachytherapy dose pre-plan dosimetry; (3)
Clinical supervision of dose implantation by the VAMC Urology staff at
the SF VAMC; (4) Brachytherapy post-plan dosimetry. All participating
physicians shall have active Radiation Oncology clinical privileges at
the SF VAMC. Upon authorization, the contractor will provide to the
authorized VA patient, Radiation Oncology Physician services for
performing brachytherapy for treatment of carcinoma of the prostate.
All participating physicians shall comply with the NRC-mandated Quality
Management Form procedures including verification of the Patient
treatment plan, verification of the brachytherapy dose calculation, and
authorization for deviation from the patient treatment plan when
indicated. All other information will be provided in the soliciation
