704-2360. DESC: Solid State Power Electronics for the users of military
generator sets for the 21st century battlefield. Request for
information (RFI), the U.S. Army Communication and Electronics Command
(CECOM), Research Development and Engineering Center (RDEC), Command,
Control Directorate (C2D), Power Generation Division, Integrated Power
Sources Team is soliciting information from manufacturers of solid
state power electronics for application in the 21st century
battlefield. The Army is beginning a new program that will result in
the development of a new family of diesel engine driven (DED)
generators whose power ranges between 5 and 60kW. Commercial off the
shelf power electronic products will be incorporated into this effort.
Areas of interest include, but are not limited to, the following:
System is software configurable for this power range. Durable (Products
able to withstand military environments). Small and Lightweight.
Environmentally Safe. Digital bus terminal access to communicate with
other army equipment. E-Flash technology. Centralized RF communication
(or at least remote capability). Modular software coding. Plug-In-Play
capability. 16 or 32 bit data/addressing. Multiple A/D pins (at least
12). Modern software (to be able to include graphic support). Solid
State Variable Speed technology. Solid State Load management. Power
regulation. Adapts to Utility power with harmonic and user protection.
Any product information obtained as a result of this RFI could be used
to help assist in the acquisition process. The government does not plan
to award any contracts or otherwise pay for any information received
from this RFI. It is highly desirable that the government receives
unlimited rights to this information. However, if any proprietary
material is stated please indicate this and clearly separate material
from the rest of document. Request that all information be received
within 45 days of the date on this announcement. Mailed information
