(FHWA) seeks to establish a Commercial Vehicle Safety Technology
Diagnostics and Performance Enhancements Program (the "Program"). To
accomplish this work an Indefinite Delivery/ Indefinite Quantity
(IDIQ), Cost Reimbursement Contract is contemplated. The successful
offeror will act as a national focal point for the program and
establish a team representing commercial vehicle manufacturers and
operators. The Program will build upon, develop, and integrate driver
and vehicle information, assistance, and control technologies related
to critical safety systems, that will improve, significantly, the
safety of commercial trucks/trailers and buses. The Program will also
develop and validate performance specifications and design guidelines
for Intelligent Vehicle Initiative (IVI) systems that will be developed
in commercial vehicles in the next few years. Lastly, the Program must
assess the value of new and proposed safety products and systems to
justify deployment investments in these products/ systems and
demonstrate that IVI systems can improve commercial vehicle performance
and driving safety. NO FURTHER SOLICITATION INFORMATION IS AVAILABLE AT

labels. No telephone, fax, or e-mail requests will be accepted. All
Requests for Applications will be mailed in 3" diskette, WordPerfect
6.1 format, to offerors who send in written requests. Amendments, if
any, will be mailed either in hardcopy or diskette format. The Request
for Applications and its forms will also be available for downloading
on our Webpage at http://www.fhwa.dot.gov/aaa/hamhome.htm. If you
download copies of solicitations from our Webpage you will NOT
automatically receive any amendments to those solicitations unless you
have also sent in the written request. It is your responsibility to
check back frequently to see if the FHWA has issued any amendments to
solicitations you have downloaded. All amendments will be posted on,
