NASA/JSC plans to issue a Request for Proposal (RFP) for the Acquisition of Program Management, Sustaining Engineering, Maintenance and Production Support for Station Robotic Systems. This activity is to be added to the existing contract NAS 9-97220, with the Canadian Commerical Corporation/SPAR Aerospace. NASA/JSC intends to purchase the items from the Canadian Commercial Corporation/SPAR Aerospace under the authority of FAR 6.302-1, Only one responsible source and no other supplier or services will satisfy agency requirements. SPAR, by virtue of being the designer, developer and manufacturer of the Station Robotic Systems from inception to date, has acquired a unique level of expertise and corporate knowledge necessary to provide the required program support. The Government does not intend to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. See Note 26. RFP will be released on or about February 12, 1999, 24 days after publication of this synopsis in the CBD. Firm date for receipt of proposals will be stated in the RFP. All responsible sources may submit a proposal which shall be considered by the agency.
