58 -- POLARIMETRIC SCANNING RADIOMETER (PSR) SOL NRMGL000900331JW DUE 012599 POC Jacqueline Wright (303) 497-5282, FAX (303) 497-3163 E-MAIL: NOAA; MASC Acquisitions Management, Brenda.S.Summers@noaa.gov. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's (NOAA) Environmental Technology Laboratory (ETL) has a requirement for two scanhead drums for the Polarimetric Scanning Radiometer (PSR) system. This has been a joint development between Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI) at the Georgia Institute of Technology (GIT) and NOAA's ETL. The Polarimetric Scanning Radiometer (PSR) is a versatile airborne microwave imaging radiometer developed for the purpose of obtaining polarimetric microwave emission imagery of the Earth's oceans, land, ice, clouds, and precipitation. The PSR consists of a set of five polarimetric radiometers housed within a gimbal- mounted scanhead drum. The scanhead drum is rotatable by the gimbal positioner so that the radiometers can view any angle within 70 degrees levation of nadir at any azimuthal angle, as well as external hot and ambient calibration targets. The configuration thus supports conical, cross-track, along track, fixed-angle stare, and spotlight scan modes. The PSR was designed to provide several specific and unique observational capabilities from various aircraft platforms. The scanhead was designed for in-flight operation without the need for a radome (i.e., in direct contact with the aircraft slipstream), thus allowing precise calibration and imaging with no superimposed radome emission signatures. (See http://www1.etl.noaa.gov/radiom/psr.html for more information.) No RFQ is available. This announcement is being issued under the Simplified Acquisition Procedures, FAR Part 13 (NTE $100,000.00). It is the intent of the government to award on a sole source basis to Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta, GA. JACQUELINE WRIGHT, Purchasing Agent. Posted 01/18/99 (D-SN288785). (0018)
