Virtual Government '99: "IT Solutions for the New Millennium" will bring together key players from the federal, state and local IT communities and the industry that supports. In only its fourth year, this conference series has become the winter gathering place for IT professionals. Below you'll find a quick overview of the conference. A detailed agenda, an "Exhibitor Gallery" featuring the companies who will be exhibiting at the symposium, and online registration are available at http://www.afcea.org. LOCATION: This year the Virtual Government Conference has found a permanent home in the exciting new Ronald Reagan International Trade Center, Washington, DC, just two blocks from the White House. There is a Metro stop in the building and convenient underground parking. SPEAKERS: Vice President Gore kicked off the U.S. General Store initiative at Virtual Government '96. He used VG 97 to announce the Administration's Access America initiative. He was invited in '98 to preview the Administration's newest IT initiatives. Upson, Secretary of Technology, Commonwealth of Virginia; Mr. Richard A. Clarke, National Coordinator for Security, Infrastructure Protection, and Counterterrorism, Critical Information Assurance Office; and, back by popular demand, Professor John J. Donovan, Chairman, Cambridge Technology Group. PROGRAM: This year's program was developed under the leadership of Mr. James J. Flyzik, Deputy Assistant Secretary (Information Systems) and Chief Information Officer, Department of the Treasury, and a select group of key government and industry IT leaders. They have put together a program that provides a comprehensive look at some of today's and tomorrow's most penetrating IT issues. Technical sessions will focus on such timely topics as Commerce on the Web, Web-Enabled Government, IT in International Governments, Critical Infrastructure Protection, and much more. The VG technical program has been expanded this year to include two mini-conferences. On Tuesday and Wednesday conference attendees will focus on IT issues in joint sessions. Thursday's agenda offers three optional tracks: "IT Partnerships," "The Federal IT Workforce Challenge," and "Public Safety Wireless Network." In addition, The Honorable John W. Warner, U.S. Senator, Commonwealth of Virginia, has been invited to participate in a "town meeting" that will focus on what Congress is doing to address the national IT Workforce shortage. EXHIBITS: In addition, 50 demonstrations from the nation's leading IT companies and government agencies will reinforce the technologies and solutions attendees will hear about in the technical sessions. The Government Information Technology Services Board will showcase exciting new initiatives approved by the Innovation Fund Committee. COST: THREE CONFERENCES FOR THE PRICE OF ONE!
