COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF JANUARY 21,1999 PSA#2266PROPOSED CANCELLATION OF MIL-STDS AND MIL-SPECS The NAVSEA Command
Standardization Office, SEA O3Q, has reviewed all Military Standards
and Military Specifications for which NAVSEA is the Preparing Activity,
and has developed a list of 835 documents, which appear not to be
essential for acquisition, reprocurement, or design. These documents
have not been requested by an acquisition manager, have no procurement
history through the Navy stock system over the last ten years, and are
not referenced in any other Military Standards or Military
Specifications. SEA 03Q intends to request Navy Departmental
Standardization Office approval for group cancellation of the listed
documents. The list of documents proposed for cancellation is posted on
web site, http://www.navsea.navy.mil/acquisition-reform/docswout.pdf.
Industry comments will be considered; send them to
disp_canx@mrosenblatt.com. Appropriate government standardization
activities have been sent tailored hard copies of the list. Posted
