The National Park Service (NPS), Columbia Cascades Support Office is soliciting quotations from qualified firms to provide all labor and materials in the construction of a gravel-surfaced access road and a small gravel surfaced parking area, with two (2) pre-cast concrete cattleguards and one (1) steel culvert. The access road shall be approximately 1700 feet in length and 18 feet in width, starting at Day Creek County Road, approximately one-half mile west of U.S. Highway 26. It will be constructed along an existing 10 foot wide dirt and gravel road. The circular parking area shall be constructed with an internal median of native vegetation; provide eight (8) parking sites for passenger vehicles and three (3) sites for buses or large recreational vehicles. The contractor shall furnish and install two (2) 20 foot long, pre-cast concrete and steel cattleguards along the roadway and one (1) 12 diameter, 24 foot long steel culvert at a location to be staked on-site by the government. The purpose of this contract is to provide visitor overlook on a bluff above the John Day River valley.
