COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF JANUARY 22,1999 PSA#2267National Institutes of Health, National Institute of Allergy and
Infectious Diseases, Contract Management Branch, Solar Bldg., Room
3C07, 6003 Executive Blvd. MSC 7610, Bethesda, MD 20892-7610 A -- RESEARCH RESOURCE FOR GENETICS OF FAMILIES WITH MULTIPLE
AUTOIMMUNE DISEASES SOL RFP-NIH-NIAID-DAIT-99-32 DUE 043099 POC Mr.
Bruce E. Anderson, Contracting Officer, EMail: ba9i@nih.gov, Telephone:
301-496-8371, FAX: 301-402-0972 The Division of Allergy, Immunology and
Transplantation of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious
Diseases (NIAID), National Institutes of Health (NIH), has a
requirement to establish the Research Resource for Genetics of Families
with Multiple Autoimmune Diseases, a core facility dedicated to the
collection and characterization of multiplex (2 or more affected
individuals) families affected by two or more autoimmune diseases. The
facility will operate two simultaneous activities. It will serve as a
registry for pedigrees of such families by collecting, validating, and
updating clinical, demographic, and laboratory data on multiplex
families affected by two or more autoimmune diseases. The facility will
also operate a repository of immortalized cells and DNA samples
obtained from enrolled family members. The contents of the database,
cells, and DNA samples will be made available to basic and clinical
researchers. The facility will also maintain a database of published
genotypic data on these families. The NIAID expects that the
availability of these resources will encourage and accelerate research
on genes, which confer susceptibility and/or resistance to the
development of autoimmune diseases. The use of unified criteria for
enrollment and processing of cell and DNA samples will simplify the
comparison of experimental data obtained by different laboratories
without jeopardizing the individual research projects. RFP
NIH-NIAID-DAIT-99-32 will be available electronically on or about
February 8, 1999 and may be accessed through the NIAID Contract
Management Branch (CMB) Homepage, by the following electronic address
and instructions: Access by http://www.niaid.nih.gov/contract, and
select the "RFPs" link and then select "RFP-NIH-NIAID-DAIT-99-32".
Please note that the RFP for this acquisition has been revised to
include only the Statement of Work, deliverable and reporting
requirements, special requirements and mandatory qualifications, if
any, the Technical Evaluation Criteria, and the proposal preparation
instructions. All information required for the submission of an offer
will be contained in the electronic RFP package. Following proposal
submission and review, offerors may be requested to provide additional
documentation to the Contracting Officer. Proposals in response to
this RFP will be due on or about April 30, 1999. Any responsible
offeror may submit a proposal, which will be considered by the
Government. It is anticipated that a single cost-reimbursement contract
will be awarded for a maximum period of five (5) years. Subcontracting
is permitted as noted in the Statement of Work. This advertisement
does not commit the Government to award a contract. No collect calls
will be accepted. The Division of Allergy, Immunology and
