NASA/MSFC plans to issue a Request for Quotation (RFQ) for Maintenance Contract, 1.5 year, for existing Nortel STR2760 GPS RF Simulator (Master/Auxiliary system) and two Alphastation workstations. This maintenance agreement will provide MSFC access to the manufacturer's technical support, calibration support, periodic software, firmware, and hardware upgrades, and hardware maintenance support which will ensure that the GPS simulator system is always functionally operational, and available to support various NASA test projects and programs. This procurement is being conducted under the Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP). NASA/MSFC intends to purchase the items from Global Simulation Systems, Inc., 1100 E. Woodfield Rd., Schaumberg, IL. This sole source is based on FAR 13.106-1(2)(b) and based on system compatibility. The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. Interested firms have until January 29, 1999, to submit in writing to the identified point of contact, their qualifications/capabilities. Such qualifications/capabilities will be used solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. Responses received after the January 29, 1999, or without the required information will be considered nonresponsive to the synopsis and will not be considered. A determination by the Government to not compete this proposed effort on a full and open competitive basis, based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
