E-MAIL: REI SYSTEMS Inc., sbir@rei.sys. The NASA STTR Program is conducted under the authority of the Small Business Research and Development Enhancement Act of 1992. The NASA STTR Program is designed as a vehicle for converting the nation's investment in research carried out by research institutions into new commercial technologies in order to advance U.S. economic competitiveness and high-tech economic development. The NASA STTR 99-I technical topics and subtopics will support the NASA strategic enterprises and the core competencies of the NASA Centers of Excellence. The NASA STTR 1999 topics will support the Centers of Excellence at the Langley Research Center, the Lewis Research Center, the Kennedy Space Center, and the Johnson Space Center. (It is anticipated that the 2000-I technical topics will support the Centers of Excellence at the other NASA Centers.) It is anticipated that the 99-I STTR solicitation will identify one or more specific potential product areas within each topic that NASA wishes to emphasize. The 1999 STTR topics andcorresponding Center of Excellence are: Human Operations in Space (Johnson Space Center); Launch and Payload Processing Systems (Kennedy Space Center); Structures and Materials (Langley Research Center); and Turbomachinery (Lewis Research Center). To participate in the NASA STTR program, firms must have Internet access via the World Wide Web and an e-mail address. Details can be found on the WWW NASA SBIR Home Page at: http://sbir.nasa.gov NASA will issue its STTR solicitation 99-I starting at noon, Eastern time on March 2, 1999. Distribution will be by electronic transmission services or by diskette as described below. Paper copies of the solicitation will not be distributed. Instructions for electronic access to the solicitation are as follows: Via the Internet (WWW): The STTR solicitation document and other program information are accessible on the NASA SBIR/STTR home page which can be reached at <http://sbir.nasa.gov&;gt;. Diskettes: those requesting the solicitation are strongly urged to download it from the Internet. However, if that is not possible, a diskette containing the solicitation may be requested by U.S. Mail from the NASA SBIR Support Office, REI Systems, Inc., 4041 Powdermill Road, Calverton, MD 20705 or via Fax at (301)937 -- 0204. The request must include the name and full address of the requester and specify either a PC or Macintosh format for the diskette. These will be distributed by U.S. Mail starting on March 2, 1999. Questions regarding electronic access and other administrative matters should be referred to (301)937-0888. Detailed instructions for proposal development and submission are contained in the solicitation.
