The Government intends to negotiate and award a sole source procurement for the Bureau of Engraving and Printing_s (BEP) Fire Management System Year 2000 Initiative. The Government intends to negotiate with only one source, Life Safety Systems, Manassas, VA. The intended procurement is for the upgrade of the BEP Fire Management System for Year 2000 Compliance, consisting of installation and testing of 5 replacement Central Processing Units (CPUs) and using the _Fireworks_ color graphics software package, that is UL listed, and functions with the BEP_s existing fire command system, which is an Edwards Systems Technology, Incorporated proprietary system. The intended procurement is for supplies and services for which the Government intends to acquire from one source under the authority of FAR 6.302-1(ii). This acquisition is being conducted under the guidelines of Federal Acquisition Regulation, Parts 12 and 13.5. This is not a request for proposals and there is no solicitation available at this time. The Government reserves the right to solicit proposals based on receipt of affirmative responses to this notice or award a contract to Life Safety Systems without further notice. The anticipated award date is 10 days from the date of this announcement. The Standard Industrial Code for this action is 1731. The small business size standard is $7 million.
