E-MAIL: Katherine Richardson, Katherine.A.Richardson.1@gsfc.nasa.gov. THIS NOTICE CONSTITUTES AMENDMENT NO. 1 TO THE COMBINED SYNOPSIS/RFQ FOR the NASA Mentor Protege Program Support. The purpose of this amendment is to answer the following questions that we received in reference to solicitation number 1199. (1) How many prime contractors will be included in the survey? NASA List of Top Prime Contractors includes information on 100+ NASA contractors. This survey should include data from a representative number of these contractors. (2) Does NASA envision this effort as a telephone survey? The form of survey is at the discretion of the offeror. (3) Will NASA provide the contractor with the name, address, and phone number of the prime contractors to be contacted? Information on NASA List of Top Prime Contractors is available at the following website: http://www.hq.nasa.gov/office/codek/ (4) Are all prime contractors in the United States? (In other words, do all have domestic contact information?) Yes. All of NASA's Top Prime Contractors are domestic companies. (5) Is Excelan acceptable database program for preparing the mentor database? If not, what database program does the government prefer? Yes, but other programs are acceptable as well. (6) Is the contractor responsible for collecting any information from the prime contractors other than the specific areas of technology with subcontract potential? No. In other words, does the contractor need to collect information about the prime contract, such as the dollar amount, potential for subcontracting, contract length in years, etc.? No. (7) Would submitting a proposal for NASA's mentor/program disquality my firm from becoming a protege firm? (We are a small, woman-owned business with a GSA FSS schedule under MOBIS and have performed work at three NASA sites for two different prime contractors.) No, there would be no conflict of interest. The purpose of this mentor/protigi program is to identify specific technology areas that prime contractors would be interested in having a Small Disadvantaged Business(SDB) work on. There will be no listing of SDBs on this database, only a list of specific technology areas that prime contractors are seeking from proteges. There will be no matching of SDBs and prime contractors on this database. Posted 01/25/99 (D-SN290832). (0025)
