R -- EXHIBIT DESIGNER SOL IN99C-005 POC Ruth Nelson, Contracting Officer, (202) 707-8610 The Library of Congress (LOC) intends to negotiate on a sole-source basis with Chermayeff and Geismar, Inc. (C&G) to create a traveling exhibit based on C&G's design for the Library of Congress exhibition "Sigmund Freud: Conflict and Culture." The exhibition is being organized by LOC and will travel to six other museum sites. This effort is a follow-up contract to develop a traveling exhibit that maintains the integrity of C&G's design for the initial installation at the LOC. The contract will require updating existing cases from LOC's inventory to reproduce the effect of the current C&G design. The contract requires the creation of fabrication drawings for an exhibition system that will unite the existing sections of the exhibition, maintain the original integrity of the C&G layout, and be easily trasportable. The preparation of a series of alternate floor plans that demonstrate the feasibility of these design components on other venues is also required. The LOC intends to solicitand negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 6.302-1. Interested offerors are invited to identify their capability to respond to this requirement and to submit in writing, sufficient technical/cost information that demonstrates the ability to fulfill this requirement. All responses from credible sources will be considered. Written responses must be received within fifteen (15) calendar days after publication of this notice. No solicitation exists. No telephone requests will be accepted. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
