The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) plans to award a purchase order to The Ford Motor Credit Company to purchase a leased 1997 Ford AT-9522 Tractor Trailer. This vehicle has been leased to FHWA for two years at no cost to the government and has been modified by FHWA to demonstrate ITS/CVO Technologies as part of Demonstration Project #111. Because FHWA modified this Tractor Trailer to meet our standards as part of a Demonstration Project, it would not be economically feasible for FHWA to purchase another Tractor Trailer and modify it to meet the project needs; therefore, no other known source is reasonably acceptable.
