United States Army Space Command (USARSPACE) CMD (FWD) is seeking
sources who are currently working on Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM)
fuel cells with particular emphasis on how this technology may be
applied to Army systems. USARSPACE's main emphasis is
Commercial-Off-The-Self (COTS) products but is also interested in
efforts conducted on behalf of other developmental organizations as
well as Internal Research and Development projects. The information
should cover any characteristic advantage/capability that PEM fuel
cells have over diesel generators. Application targets should not be
limited to any special area other than mobility is required and the
power range is 25 kW to 100 kW intermittent/continuous capability. The
system shall be capable of operating with various platforms (240/120
V, 50/60 Hz, three/single phase), and operate in conditions ranging
from office environments to hostile outdoor conditions. There is no
commitment on the part of the government to award a contract as a
result of this request for information nor to pay for the information
received, nor demonstration provided. All information received will be
handled as confidential. Interested sources should submit written
notification to USARSPACE CMD (FWD), ATTN: SMDC-AR-CM, 1670 Newport

contact, phone no., fax no., e-mail address, and type of technology
proposed. Also include level of maturity and whether it is a concept,
a software prototype, or is commercially available. List product
capabilities and testing that has been accomplished. Also, available
product literature and published price list should be provided. Request
responses not later than 10 February 1999. After review of the product
information submitted, the government may request samples for testing
or a demonstration. If a sample is requested from your company for
testing purposes, the sample will be returned in an as is condition
after all testing has been completed. The government will not be
responsible for any damages to, or the condition of, samples after
testing has been completed. If a requirement derives from this

Proposal. For questions regarding this action, contract Bryan A.
