Development of hybrid sensor array systems capable of
detecting, discriminating, and measuring concentrations of pollutants
created in processes such as fossil energy combustion, utilizing
chemiresistive and surface acoustic wave (SAW) technologies with films
such as semiconducting metal oxides, metals and polymers. In addition,
it will be critical to pursue advancements in development of
intelligent neural networks and systems integration processes to add
versatility to a sensor system's capabilities to simultaneously detect
multiple contaminants. The contract is being issued to Sensor Research
and Development in cooperation with the University of Maine because
they possess the unique and necessary skills, long-term understanding
and experience in sensor techniques for the detection and monitoring of
trace contaminants in gases, liquids, and solids. The personnel at the
center have the unique direct experience in the field that governs
this project. Having already undertaken several projects involving the
development of sensor technology and extensive proprietary information
relative to the deposition parameters of various films relative to the
sensor response illustrates their ability to immediately have an
impact on tasks to be issued. This request is considered sole source to
Sensor Research and Development Corporation. Therefore, no solicitation
will result from this announcement. Requests for information should be
addressed to Kaye Bloniarz-Cook, MS I07, Morgantown, WV 26505-0880.
