Contracting Officer The Naval Surface Warfare Center, Carderock
Division, Detachment Norfolk (NSWCCD DETNOR) in Suffolk, VA, is seeking
information from potential sources for innovative research,
development, and demonstration programs in the area of Combatant Craft
advancement. The areas of interest include: novel hull forms which
provide superior sea keeping and ride qualities while achieving high
speeds in high sea states, high load carrying capability, protection of
passengers from exposure, improved (low) life cycle maintenance, and
reduced hydrodynamic drag. Also of interest are structural systems
utilizing advanced manufacturing techniques or unique composite
combinations to achieve light weight, high strength components. Unique
or advanced propulsion and propulsor systems achieving improved
efficiency and improved safety to personnel in the water are also
sought. Unique craft designs, configurations, and applications of
materials and components accomplishing reduced signatures, increased
survivability, and reduced manning are also of interest. Additional
areas of interest are improved communications systems, improvements to
night vision and NVIS compatible components, and integrated antenna
packages for small craft. Any proposed method of accomplishing
improvements in any or all of the areas of interest will be considered.
This request is for technical information describing the offeror's
current capability or proposals for future development of production
methods, concepts or demonstrator items. The submittals should consist
of no more than five single sided pages of text, supplemented by no
more than three pages of tabular data or illustrations. The submitted
data should include a complete description of what the offeror is
proposing, the current state of development, descriptions of
demonstrations conducted to date, technical data (where available), and
a description of proposed further development efforts. An estimate of
the time required to deliver a demonstrator item shall also be included
in the submitted data. Data shall be submitted in triplicate to: The
Naval Surface Warfare Center, Carderock Division, Detachment Norfolk

Parkway, Suite 200, Suffolk, VA, 23435-2698. Submittals are desired as
soon as possible but not later than the due date above. Please address

purpose of this request is to determine the state of the technology in
craft design and construction in the areas of interest and to evaluate
the feasibility of initiating a program to seek detailed proposals for
formal evaluation and development of some or all of the responses to
this request. Any future procurements developed as a result of the
findings of this notice shall be synopsized in accordance with FAR
