posted January 15, 1999 regarding installation of NEC Professional II
Telephone System for Minneapolis, MN office. The following questions
and responses are provided: (1) What is required on building permit?
What are the specific qualifications and information that must be
provided to ensure general liability coverage? A low voltage license
from the State of Minnesota is required. This is a general contractors
building permit stating that all technicians must have formal training
on low voltage wiring. (2) Referencing Line Item 011, what will the ECR
be used for in the installation? External control relay unit is the
interface card that connects loudspeaker paging to the telephone
system. Loudspeaker paging consists of customer provided ceiling
speakers and customer provided amp. (3) Item 0015, what will the 12pr
cable be used for and how long will each cable be in length? The 12pr
cable is used to support a major telecommunications system for the
USSS. Cable run pricing is based on a run not to exceed 200 feet. (4)
Item 0016, will the CAT3 cable be terminated on standard 66 blocks or
on punch panels in order to easily patch extensions when needed? The
CAT 3 cable will terminate within the office communications equipment
room on 66 blocks. The end user cable termination will require RJ11
jacks.(5) Will the USSS consider an alternative proposal? NEC (6) The
configuration for a NED Electra Professional 120, lists 8-port digital
station card, it also has a request for 23 digital telephones and 2
attendant add-on consoles. This configuration would require 4-8 port
digital station cards. The configuration request 4 DID trunk cards.
This would accommodate 16 DID trunks. Please clarify the quantities for
the digital cards and the DID trunk cards. The system must be Y2k
