vbaker@fdic.gov. The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) is
seeking sources to indicate interest in providing local exchange
service from a single vendor nationwide to all Field Offices of the
FDIC. THIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS. The purpose of this notice
is to develop a list of qualified firms that can provide this service.
A response to this request for information does not guarantee that a
firm will be solicited on any solicitation as a result of this Request
for Information. Background: The FDIC has 86 Field Offices located
throughout the continental United States and Puerto Rico. The number of
staff located at each office ranges from 8 to 59. Forty to fifty per
cent of the field office staff is on travel status on any given day,
performing bank examinations or in transit. Each mobile staff member is
equipped with a laptop computer. Currently, these offices are equipped
with electronic key systems including Lucent Technologies, Inc.
Merlin, Partner and Legend systems. Dial tone for voice calls,
facsimile machines and data dial-backup is provided by the Local
Exchange Company (LEC) over voice-grade analog telephone lines. Voice
mail is provided in some, but not all, of the offices by the LEC. Voice
services are supported and managed centrally by in-house personnel
located in Headquarters, Washington, D.C. Respondents to this Request
for Information should provide the following: (1) A general description
of the respondent company's capabilities. (2) Examples of the
respondent company's past experience providing similar services. (3) A
description of how the respondent company would approach/provide the
requirements listed above. Responses to this Request for Information
