be accepted for the Acadia National Park Project PRA-ACAD 4A11, in
Hancock County, Maine. The project consists of the pavement
rehabilitation of 3.7 kilometers of the Park Loop Road, 5.6 kilometers
of Paradise Hill Road, and 0.3 kilometers of the Access Road to State
Route 233, as well as coastline stabilization at Otter Point. The
project work includes drainage improvements, asphalt pavement milling
and overlay, asphalt removal, roadway excavation, aggregate base, and
other miscellaneous work. Principal items of work and approximate
quantities are as follows: Roadway Excavation, 2,500 m3; Aggregate
base, Grading C or D, 5,800 t; Hot asphalt concrete pavement, Class B,
Grading D, 9,990 t; Asphalt Pavement Milling, 9,325 m2; and Special
Rock Embankment, Mechanically Placed, 400 t. Invitation for Bids No.

16, 1999, at 2:00 pm, local time, at the address listed above for the

Transportation (DOT) Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business
Utilization has bonding programs to assist minority, women-owned
anddisadvantaged business enterprises in acquiring short-term capital
and bonding assistance for transportation-related contracts. Loans are
available under the DOT Short Term Lending Program (STLP) at prime
interest rates up to $500,000 to provide accounts receivable financing.
The DOT Bonding Assistance Program enables firms to apply for bid,
performance and payment bonds up to $1,000,000 per contract. DOT
provides an 80 percent guaranty on the bond amount to a surety against
