In order to identify potential sources and to permit potential sources the opportunity to provide comments on the proposed "Draft" Specification, an advanced notice is published herein. Inputs are being requested from firms capable of performing the work required to Design, Furnish, Install and Test a replacement Main Drive System for the 14 by 22 Foot Subsonic Tunnel. The requirements are as follows: 1) Demolition of the existing main drive system, 2) Design and manufacture of the new drive system equipment including synchronous motor, converter, switchgear, input isolation transformer, secondary unit substation, feeder, harmonic filter, motor control center, and auxiliaries, 3) Engineering, design, and analysis to install and interface new drive system equipment with existing tunnel interfaces and utilities, 4) Installation of new drive system, 5) Testing and documentation of new drive system. Comments/input for this RFI are due on or before February 26, 1999. This RFI is intended to solicit inputs to the proposed "Draft" Specification (Technical Specification, Construction Specification and Drawings only) to provide a replacement adjustable speed drive system for the 14 by 22 Foot Subsonic Tunnel and is not to be construed as a commitment by the Government nor will the Government pay for information solicited. Respondents will not be notified of the results of the evaluation. The proposed "Draft"construction and technical specifications may be downloaded as noted. Requests for drawings for RFI#14X22-B1212C shall be submitted to NASA Langley Research Center, Mail Stop 442, Attn: John T. Inge, Hampton, VA 23681-0001 or e-mail: j.t.inge@larc.nasa.gov. No solicitation exists; therefore, do not request a copy of the solicitation. If a solicitation is released it will be synopsized in the CBD and on the NASA Acquisition Internet Service. It is the potential offerors responsibility to monitor these cites for the release of any solicitation or synopsis. Vendors having the capabilities necessary to meet or exceed the stated requirements are invited to submit a capability statement documenting the ability to perform all aspects of the effort described herein. Responses must include the following: name and address of firm, size of business; average annual revenue for past 3 years and number of employees; ownership; whether they are large, small, small disadvantaged, 8 (a), or woman-owned business.
