59 -- SOURCES SOUGHT FOR LIGHTWEIGHT MULTI-BAND SATELLITE TERMINAL POC Bill Duda, Project Leader, 732-532-2516 WEB: CECOM Business Opportunity Page, http://acbop.monmouth.army.mil. E-MAIL: Click here to E-mail the POC., duda@doim6.monmouth.army.mil. Subject: Market Research for Lightweight Multi-band Satellite Terminal (LMST) Introduction. The Project Manager, Milsatcom (PM Milsatcom), is conducting a Market Research on Lightweight Multi-band Satellite Terminals (LMST) to determine; sources capable of satisfying the government's requirements; availability of Non-Developmental Item (NDI)/Commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) items or, to the extent items suitable to meet the Government's needs are not available, and to determine the practices of firms engaged in producing, distributing, and supporting NDI/COTS items, such as warranties and maintenance. We request that interested sources provide literature and other written materials to adequately describe the products that will satisfy the following requirements: Overview: The LMST is a Non-Developmental Item (NDI)/Commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) triband terminal providing improved long-haul communications capability for forward deployed forces. The initial application provides reach back to CONUS and/or other overseas command centers as part of Air Force Theater Deployable communications. Key features of the LMST include: Operable with all U.S. and NATO X-band and commercial C and Ku-band satellites Simultaneous dual-band and dual-satellite operations Multi-channel data rates up to 8.216 Mb/s Air deployable on C-130, C-141, C-5 and C-17 aircraft System Description: The LMST comes in two configurations. The trailer configuration (AN/TSC-152) uses an organic pop-up 8-foot offset-fed antenna to minimize terminal set-up time. Redundant 10 kW diesel generators, mounted on the trailer, provide for self-sufficient operations. The transit case configuration (AN/USC-59) has the same capability as the trailer configuration except it utilizes an 8-foot off-set tripod antenna and requires less than 65 percent of the standard 463L pallet in transport mode. The system is modular and scalable, with the minimum configuration (single-band, single set of baseband equipment) requiring less than 55 percent of the standard 463L pallet for transportation. The baseband equipment can be remoted up to 150 feet from the antenna system. The LMST can operate with all U.S. and NATO X-band and commercial C and Ku-band satellites. Both configurations of the LMST provide C, X and Ku-band multi-channel communications at data rates up to 8.216 Mb/s. Redundancy is provided for critical equipment. Optionally, the LMST can operate in a dual-satellite mode using its organic antenna and allocating one string of equipment to a second external antenna. Baseband equipment includes compact first and second-level multiplexers for full interoperability with existing Ground Mobile Forces (GMF) terminals. The Control, Monitor and Alarm (CM&A) system uses a remotable (up to 300 feet) laptop computer which allows all LMST baseband and RF components to be automatically configured from a graphical user interface. To facilitate network control, an interface is provided to the Interim Tactical Orderwire System (ITOS). System Features -- TrailerConfiguration (AN/TSC-152) 7100 lbs.
