NASA/KSC plans to issue a Request for Quotation (RFQ) on a sole source basis for the procurement of ten TRAK Microwave Model 8424 Timing Buffer Unit Chassis with A/B switch input and redundant power supplies, 90 4-channel linear drivers (Part No. 4001894-101), 2 input transformer (Part No. 4001482-101), and an A/B switch board for dual IRIG B inputs, which will be added to each chassis to be compatible with the existing KSC Launch Status Clock System, which uses these models of TRAK products in their design. This procurement is being conducted under the Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP). NASA/KSC intends to purchase the items from TRAK Microwave Corporation, 4726 Eisenhower Boulevard, Tampa, FL 33634. TRAK Microwave is the only source that can satisfy NASA requirements of compatibility with existing NASA equipment. The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. Interested firms have until February 2, 1999, to submit in writing to the identified point of contact, their qualifications/capabilities. Such qualifications/capabilities will be used solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. Responses received after February 2, 1999, or without the required information will be considered nonresponsive to the synopsis and will not be considered. A determination by the Government to not compete this proposed effort on a full and open competitive basis, based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
