This is a synopsis for commercial items prepared in accordance with format Part 12 of the FAR as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. The solicitation package will be available on request on or about February 5, 1999. NRCS-14-LA-99 is issued as a request for proposal (RFP). The solicitation document and incorporated provisions and clauses are those in effect through Federal Acquisition Circular 97-10. This acquisition is unrestricted and under SIC code 0782. It is the intent of the Government to secure services for production and planting services of 10,800 container grown vegetative plug transplants of smooth cordgrass (Spartina alterniflora cv. Vermilion) along approximately 27,000 linear feet of shoreline. Transplants to be planted in the the intertidal zone (at approximately mean water level) on two and one-half (2 1/2) foot centers in one row parallel to the shoreline. Location of planting work is on the north shoreline of Vermilion Bay in Iberia and Vermilion Parishes(Louisiana). Planting window for smooth cordgrass is from June 1, 1999 to August 15, 1999. The growing period shall be no less than 90 claendar days. This project falls under the authority of the Coastal Wetalands, Planning, Protection, and Restoration Act and has been specifically designed for the prevention of shoreline erosion. All work is to be accomplished in accordance with the vegetative specifications being provided with the solicitation package.
