U.S. Coast Guard in Alameda, CA., proposes to contract for the drydock
and repair of USCGC ACUSHNET (WMEC 167), a 213' cutter that is
homeported in Ketchikan, AK. Work will start on 3 May and complete by
11 June 1999. Work items will include; Temporary Services, Drydocking,
hull and deck plate renewal, potable water tank ladder renewal,
underwater body inspection, propulsion generator removal and clean,
high pressure gauge calibration, fire, bilge and dewatering system
modification, mess deck reefer/freezer coaming drain installation,
rudder and rudder stock inspection and maintenance, auxiliary day tank
preservation, freeboard preservation, forward berthing mod and weather
deck renewal. On 18 February 1999, an invitation for bid (IFB) will be
issued in accordance with the Small Business Competitive Demonstration
Program. For Women-Owned and Disadvantage Business Enterprieses, The
Department of Transportation (DOT) Minority, Office of Small And
Disadvantaged Business Utilization has programs to assist minority,
women-owned and disadvantaged enterpriese to acquire short-term working
capital assistance for transportation-related contracts. Loans are
available under the DOT short Term Lending Program (STLP) at the prime
interest rates to provide accounts receivable financing. The maximum
