59 -- ELECTRICAL AND ELECTRONIC EQUIPMENT COMPONENTS The Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division (NAWCAD), St Inigoes, MD is under contract with ViaSat, Inc 2290 Cosmos Court, Carlsbad, CA 92009 to supply Advanced Data Controllers, Model VDC-500 and Personnel Data Controllers, Model VDC-400 on a firm fixed price basis and Engineering Services to support the installation and maintenance of these units on a cost reimbursement basis. This is an IDIQ (Indefinite Delivery, Indefinite Quantity) contract awarded on Sept 25,1998. The Government plans to add ViaSat part number VA-009117-0000, e-mail software compatible with the ADC and PDC, as a new CLIN in Contract N00421-98-D-1294 at the following estimated quantities: estimated quantity in the Base Year is 415; the estimated quantity in the Option Period I is 216; the estimated quantity in the Option Period 2 is 224; the estimated quantity in Option Period 3 is 233; the estimated quantity in the Option Period 4 is 243 at the unit price of $100.00 each. ViaSat has proprietary rights to this software. At thetime of contract award, the e-mail messaging software was not technically acceptable and therefore not incorporated into the contract. The value of the contract will, in effect, remain the same by modifying the estimated quantities of other CLINs. The modification is anticipated to be awarded by 12 February 1999.
