x244 PRESOLICIATION NOTICE: This Project is UNRESTRICTED. The Standard
Industrial Classification (SIC) Code for this Project is 1542-General
Contractors-Nonresidential Buildings, Other than Industrial Buildings
and Warehouses. The size standard is $17.0 Million. This project
consists of the replacement of all existing high temperature hot water
distribution piping at the Basic School (TBS) between the boiler plant
shut off valves and the existing shut off valves within the Mechanical
Equipment Rooms of eleven (11) buildings. This also includes the
replacement of the high temperature hot water piping system within
fourteen (14) manholes. In addition to the above, provide a new 15th
manhole and new high temperature hot water distribution system to serve
the Dental Clinic. All of this work to be "sequenced" such that the
buildings can be utilized during construction. Maximum supply water
termperature is 360 degrees F. and maximum working pressure is 200 psi.
The affected distribution system measures over 17,000 linear feet of
supply and return single primary piping. Often two primary pipes are
currently routed through common carrier conduit. The piping is often
buried but can be found in concrete trench, manholes and even overhead.
Asbestos insulation is present on portions of the existing distribution
pipe, and this will need to be properly removed, contained and disposed
of. The intent is to reuse the current distribution routings to reduce
the cost of excavation and coordination with existing utilities.
Unknown buried obstacles may exist and will beed to be dealt with on an
item-by-item basis. The estimated construction time is 270 days from
the required commencement date. The date of availability of the
solicitation is February 16, 1999. The bid opening date is March 18,
1999. Requests for plans and specifications may be mailed to the above

within the local area are encourged to pick up a copy of the plans and
specifications at the office of the Officer in Charge of Construction,
Building 2004. The hours of operation are 7:30am to 4:00pm, Monday
through Friday. Please note that the plans and specifications will be
issued on a "First Come, First Serve Basis." There will be no charge
for these documents, however, there will be only one set issued per
contractor. The estimated cost range is between $1,000,000 and
