Project Manager Night Vision/Reconnaissance, Surveillance and Target
Acquisition, Fort Belvoir VA is considering issue of a Request for
Proposals (RFP) for procurement of the HTI 2nd Generation FLIR which
includes sights for the M1A2 Abrams Tank (Commander's Independent
Thermal Viewer (CITV) and Thermal Imaging System (TIS)), the Long Range
Advanced Scout Surveillance Suite (LRAS3), and NV-80 B-Kits for the
Bradley M2A3. The total 2nd Gen FLIR requirements for FY00 through FY08
is in excess of 5000 systems. To begin to assess the industry
capability of supporting these requirements, a Government/ Industry
conference is scheduled for 9:00 am on 19 February 1999 at the CECOM
Research, Development and Engineering (RD&E) Center, Bldg 305, 4th
Floor, Looft Conference Room, Ft. Belvoir, VA. One-on-one
(face-to-face) sessions with potential offerors will immediately follow
the conference. The purpose of the conference/one-on-one sessions is to
brief the industry on the details of the planned procurement, ascertain
the capability and interest of potential offerors, and receive the
benefit of industry comments. The one-on-one sessions will be limited
to companies who could be considered as potential prime contractors.
These sessions should not be used by potential offerors to market their
products. These sessions are not a commencement of negotiations. Each
session will be limited to approximately 60 minutes. The performance
requirements for these systems will be available on the CECOM Business
Opportunity Page no later than 5 Feb 1999. Companies interested in
participating in this conference should contact the CECOM POCs listed
below no later than 11 Feb 1999. Requests must include company point of
contact and number of people attending the conference. Questions or
issues that you would like to have addressed at the conference should
