This is a modification to the synopsis entitled Mechanical System Restoration and Modernization of Building 21 at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, MD 20771, which was posted December 17, 1998. You are hereby notified of the following changes: DELETE: "This project includes the restoration and modernization of portions of the exterior, interior, mechanical, electrical, and fire protection and detection systems in Building 21. Exterior improvements include repairs to wall systems and roof systems. Interior improvements include bringing elevators into compliance with safety, electrical, and accessibility codes, renovating some public area ceilings and floors, and renovating restrooms. Mechanical systems imporovements include repairs as required to or replacemnt of induction systems, improving the constant volume air distribution systems, replacing the interior variable volume system, rationalizing exhaust systems, removing abandoned equipment, and completing the Energy Management and Control System for the building." ADD: "This project includes the restoration and modernization of the interior only such as: Architectural, Mechanical, Plumbing, Fire Protection, Electrical systems in Building 21. Architectural work includes interior:Life Safety code compliance by upgrading stairwells and egresses correction of, Fire Protection deficiencies, and renovation of toilet rooms. Mechanical work includes: (A) Replacement of induction units with Variable Air Volume (heating) system on North side, (B) Replacement of Air-handling unit and associated Variable Air Volume (heating) system in interior zone, (C) Replacement of Air-handling unit and induction unit system with fan coil (four pipe) system on South side, (D) New secondary chilled water piping system in the Basement, (E) Asbestos abatement, (F) HVAC control systems." DELETE: "Fire dection system improvements as necessary for system compatibility with the type used centerwide." DELETE: "The anticipated release date of the RFP is on or about January 22, 1999 with an anticipated offer closing date of on or about February 22, 1999." ADD:"The anticipated release date of the RFP is on or about February 5, 1999 with an anticipated offer closing date of on or about March 5, 1999." DELETE:"Drawings and specifications will be available from the Procurement Office (Code 212) for a charge of $100, payable only by certified check or money order addressed to "U.S. Treasury" -- cash, company checks, and credit card payments are not acceptable.
