synopsis/solicitation prepared in accordance with the format in the
Federal Acquisition Regulation, supplemented with information included
in this notice. This solicitation incorporates provisions and clauses
that are applicable and in effect through the current Federal
Acquisition Circular (FAC) and the Defense Acquisition Circular. It is
the contractor's responsibility to be familiar with all applicable
clauses and provisions. No RFQ will be prepared or made available for
distribution. While price will be a significant factor in the
evaluation of offers, award will be based on responsive, responsible,
technically acceptable offers received in response to this CBD
advertisement.. Competitive awards may be based on the evaluation
criteria stipulated in the Red, Yellow, Green (RYG) Contractor
Evaluation System. The evaluation criteria is available upon request.

award date: 11 FEB 1999. Specifications are as follows: Quantity: 60
each Optical Switches meeting the following specifications: Function:
1 x 2 (single pole, double throw); optical wavelength: 1300 nanometer
range; optical attentuation: 1.0db maximum; optical return loss: 55db
minimum; attached optical fiber: single mode SMF-28 or equivalent 3mm
jacketed 9/125 micron fiber; fiber length: 30 inches or .75 meter
minimum; electrical control voltage: +5 volts for one connection, 0
volts for the other (non-latching); operating current: 50 ma typical;
temp range: -20 degrees celsius to +70 degrees celsius operating, -55
degrees celsius to +75 degrees celsius storage; vibration: 4 hz to 50
hz per MIL STD 167 -1 NOTICE 1 for Type I ship mounted equipment. The
complete system will be tested to the displacement listed in table 1;
shock: 9 hammer blows as specified in MIL-S-901, Type A, Grade A, Class
I for deck mounted equipment. The complete system will be tested on the
lightweight shock machine. Operation during the shock is not required,
but the switch must return to the operational conditions that existed
