CECOM Acquisition Center-Washington intends to extend the ordering
period for Contract Number DAHC94-94-D-0003 with Intermec Corporation,
from 25 March 1999 until 30 September 1999, of the Automatic
Identification Technology, per the approved J&A. The extension is
necessary in order to continue to have an ordering vehicle to maintain
continuity of operations for the customers of PM AIT until the
issuance of the Automatic Identification Technology II contract. The
contract requires commercially produced automatic identification
technologies, to include bar code equipment and micro-circuitry
devices, software and services to be made available to system designers
and integrators throughout DOD, and Coast Guard. The equipment includes
Data collection devices; bar code scanners, 2-D scanners, wands, slot
readers, and wedges; printers (i.e., laser, thermal/thermal transfer);
communications capabilities (Narrow Band and Spread Spectrum radio
frequency networks; telephone and wireless modems; host computer
controller); voice recognition and storage devices (PCMCIA and optical
laser memory cards; Integrated Circuit Cards (ICC) and associated
readers/writers). The software will include equipment operating system,
application generating software and application translation software.
Services will include technical engineering services, maintenance,
documentation, training, translation of small bar code applications in
the use with existing bar code systems and development of bar code
application programs. The requirements of the contract may be accessed
