A -- ALTERNATE ENGINE FOR THE TACTICAL TOMAHAWK CRUISE MISSILE POC Warren Riedell, Contracting Officer, Telephone (301)757-5954 The Naval Air Systems Command is seeking firms interested in providing a fully developed and qualified alternate cruise engine for the Tactical Tomahawk missile. The Tactical Tomahawk missile, inclusive of a primary cruise engine, is currently in engineering and manufacturing development under a contract with Raytheon Missiles Systems Company. The Government is interested in establishing an alternate cruise engine source to provide for competition during the production phase of the Tactical Tomahawk program. The source or sources selected for this program will provide a form, fit and function cruise engine for the TT missile. Specifically, selected sources will provide prototype engine hardware in order to test and demonstrate their engine. The following provides a brief outline of the requirements that candidate engines must satisfy: 600 lbs thrust class; weight less than 170 lbs; JP-10 fuel; SFC approximately 1.4 lbs/lbs-hr @ Mach 0.7, sea level, standard day conditions; re-certification interval of15 years, service life of 30 years, operating life greater than 30 hours. The Government proposes to issue this procurement as an Other Transaction agreement. Under this agreement, the Government will provide interface documentation and technical support. Interested firms are advised that participation in this program may require a substantial investment on their part. The Government will provide minimal or no payments under this agreement. Firms that successfully complete the demonstration phase of the program may be selected for integration and full qualification of their engine in the missile. Due to funding constraints, the Government will only integrate and fully qualify a single alternate engine. Assuming successful qualification of the engine in the missile, the alternate source will compete for all or a portion of production. It is anticipated that production will commence in FY03 and that the total production quantity will be approximately 1,353 units. Interested parties should submit a written expression of interest, including a brief description of how they intend to meet the above objectives. Written expressions of interest should be forwarded to the above listed address not later than 19 February 1999. riedellww@navair.navy.mil Posted 02/02/99 (W-SN293712). (0033)
