pg2@inel.gov. A -- TAILORABLE SOLID-ACID CATALYST. Potential technology
development and licensing opportunity with Lockheed Martin Idaho
Technologies Company (LMITCO), the prime operating contractor for the
Department of Energy at the Idaho National Engineering and
Environmental Laboratory (INEEL). Contact Mr. Paul Grahovac. LMITCO has
developed a new concept for a tailorable solid-acid catalyst. The
catalyst is applicable to processes that can benefit from reduced mass
transfer limitations, fewer side reactions, and reduced catalyst
fouling. The concept consists of a new catalyst design that allows
better reaction specificity through adjustment of acid strength, while
at the same time increasing reaction rates and catalyst lifetimes
through decreased fouling. Successful implementation of this technology
would address issues surrounding limitations of zeolites and other
solid acid catalysts in a myriad of applications. This technology has
significant advantages for acid-catalyzed processes that could benefit
environmentally and/or economically by switching from liquid mineral
acids to solid-acids catalysts. LMITCO is seeking a written indication
of interest from industry partners who would consider funding
collaborative technology development and/or entering into a license
agreement for the purpose of developing and commercializing this
technology. License terms will include an up-front licensing fee and a
running royalty based on a percentage of sales. This is not an
opportunity to provide goods or services to LMITCO or the Department of
Energy. This Request for Interest (RFI) will close to response 60 days
after publication. Interested parties should notify LMITCO of their
interest (and submit any questions or comments) preferably by e-mail to
Paul Grahovac. The e-mail address is pg2@inel.gov. Responses may also
be sent by mail to Paul Grahovac, Account Executive, Technology
Transfer Office, LMITCO, P. O. Box 1625, Idaho Falls, ID 83415-3805.
