MARKET SURVEY: Availability of existing commercial or non-developmental item for the M14 Aiming Post Light. The M14 Aiming Post Light is used with the M1A2 Aiming Posts. The M1A2 Aiming Posts serve as the alternate aiming reference and as the alternate for gun laying for direction and elevation for U.S. Army towed howitzers. The M14 Aiming Post Light is attached to the M1A2 Aiming Post and is used during night operations. The M14 Aiming Post Light allows the towed howitzer gunner to identify and sight on M1A2 aiming posts located at nominal 50 meter and 100 meter distances from the gun at night. Envelope dimensions are 9x2x4.5". Maximum weight must be <1.5 lb. without battery(s). USE OF RADIOACTIVE MATERIALS IS PROHIBITED. USE OF EXTERNAL WIRES TO CONNECT BATTERY(S) AND COMMERCIAL LED LIGHT SOURCE IS PROHIBITED. Exterior of unit must be green, dark brown or black matte finish. The commercial LED light source must use "C" cell lithium battery(s) that can be replaced by the operator. Battery(s) must last a minimum of 500 hours of operational use within the commercial LED light source. The commercial LED light source must attach securely to a standard 1.125" diameter aiming post without modification or the use of tools. The commercial LED light source must project within a 30-47 degree field of view with the commercial LED light source aligned to and projected 90 degrees from the center of the aiming post. That is, the commercial LED light source must point perpendicular to the vertical aiming post. All operator operations must be able to be accomplished with bare hands and with arctic gloves. The commercial LED light source must project red (630-650 nm) and green (540-575 nm) light with brightness of 15 millicandela +10% (red) 20 millicandela +10% (green) respectively. The commercial LED light source must have a switch that allows the unit to move between red and green and off. The commercial LED light source must operate in extremes of temperature (-60 to +160 F for storage and 50 to +150 operating); shock & vibration (5' drop onto " plywood and 30CPS with 1/8" amplitude/1/8" maximum recursion); sand and dust (applied grit); watertightness (18" depth); and humidity. Offeror must provide test data concerning light colors, brightness and battery life. The offeror must provide five bid samples for use in the balance of the destructive testing and inspection, which will be performed by the Government. : This is NOT and Invitation for Bid (IFB) or a Request for Proposal (RFP). ANY OFFEROR having an item that meets the above characteristics for the M14 Aiming Post Light in whole or in part should submit the following information to the points of contact listed in this advertisement. Provide the item description and performance specification which addresses all of the required capabilities, and any other salient characteristics; estimated unit cost, production rate, delivery schedule, quantity produced to date, customers, and supporting commercial literature. Provide data to identify any special training requirements for maintenance and operation. Describe your warranty program.
