stankewj@tacom.army.mil. The Tank-automotive and Armaments Command
(TACOM), Warren, Michigan seeks source, availability, and estimated
cost information for commercially available hardware suitable for use
as the US Army's Light Assault Bridge (LAB). This is a market survey
and not a Request for Proposals. Responses are requested of those
suppliers who can provide a working hardware system ready for
demonstration and test purposes by June 1, 2000 and capable of meeting
the following criteria: (1) Capable of being launched under assault
conditions (armor protected launch crew) (2) Capable of spanning gaps
of 10-22 meters and able to sustain Military Load Class (MLC) 30
wheeled single lane traffic under normal crossing conditions once in
place across the span; (3) Capable of crossing MLC 30 traffic while
supported continuously throughout its length; (4) Provides a useable
single lane surface width of at least 4.0 meters; (5) Capable of
crossing wheeled traffic with inside to inside wheel spacing of 36
inches. TACOM is exploring the potential to evaluate products under the
Department of Defense (DOD) Foreign Comparative Testing (FCT) Program.
This market survey is open to both U.S. and foreign companies.
Responses to this market survey must include the manufacturer, a
product description with performance parameters and a statement
regarding current availability and an estimated cost for the price for
test articles and price options for production of 14 units in FY02. In
addition, responses must include country of product origin for critical
components and completed devices and the product development status
(i.e. NDI, prototype, in production (numbers produced), fully
developed, but not in production). For additional information regarding
